Did you recently install Pop!_OS and do you want to print within your network? However, the default printers in your network found by Pop!_OS are not working? This article will explain how to solve this issue.

Problem Statement

Did you try to print a document and Pop!_OS showed an error like “Print job canceled at printer” or is your printer not printing at all with the default settings? This is the error we will cover in the next section.

Setup Printer

To solve this issue you will have to add a printer as an AppSocket device. To do this open the Printer settings window.
Click the Additional printer settings button.
No click on the Add button.
Expand the network printer list and click on AppSocket/HP JetDirect.
Now fill in your IP address and save it.

To test if it works Pop!_OS will ask you to print a testpage.

P.S. If you want to view your printers you can also go to localhost:631 to view the OpenPrinting CUPS dashboard.
