Do you want to send a Wake On LAN (WOL) message from your Synology NAS? This article will explain how to do that using the Task Scheduler.

Prerequisites

It is assumed that your Synology NAS is already set up.

Schedule WOL

Scheduling a Wake On LAN (WOL) message can be handy if you automagically want to back up to your cold spare NAS. To do this log in on your Synology NAS and navigate to Control Panel – Task Scheduler.
Now click Create – Scheduled Task – User-defined script. Give the task a name and select root as the user. Enter your schedule in the Schedule tab. Under the Task Settings fill in the following in User-defined script:

/usr/syno/sbin/synonet --wake __MAC_ADDRESS__ eth0

Take note that the steps might vary for your NAS.
